Silver Medalist in Belleville Bearcats Tournament
From January 5-7 the Bantam B Comets traveled to Belleville to participate in the 42nd annual Belleville Bearcats New Years Classic. Our first game on Friday against our league rivals Napanee Crunch saw us come away with a commanding 4-0 win. We finished off Friday with a 1-1 tie against the Goulbourn Rockets. At 2pm Saturday we returned to play the Gloucester Cumberland Stars, with a 2-0 win it put us automatically into the semi finals.
After the Saturday evening Quarter finals the game was set and we would play the Goulbourn Rockets again on Sunday morning. We showed up ready to play, dominating in their end but unable to score one. After about 2 minutes of overtime, our team captain Kieran Gerow skated from our end to score top shelf. This win put us into the final to face Gloucester again at 545pm.
Unfortunately, luck was not on our side in the final game. After a quick qoal by Gloucester our girls did everything they could to score. With 1:30 left our goalie was pulled and unfortunately they scored a quick empty net goal. Gloucester won by a score of 2-0 We couldn't be more proud of our girls and the amazing effort shown in this tournament, we are looking strong to finish off the season and head into playoffs. A special shout out to our Goalie Victoria Brunton who only had two goals scored on her the entire tournament!
